Welcome to the Governor Bebb Preserve Pioneer Village operated by Butler County MetroParks and the Governor Bebb Preserve Pioneer Group. The village features a collection of historic log homes and buildings which have been moved from other locations in the area.
These reconstructed cabins represent a typical early 19th century American settlement found in this region. The centerpiece of the Pioneer Village is the log house birthplace and boyhood home of William Bebb, the 19th Governor of Ohio, who served the state from 1846 - 1848. Other structures added over the years include homestead cabins, a blacksmith shop, a tavern, a trading company and a schoolhouse.
If you have an interest in historic preservation and interpretation, you may wish to get more involved by joining the Governor Bebb Preserve Pioneer Group and volunteering with Butler County MetroParks. The Governor Bebb Preserve Pioneer Group is a not-for-profit volunteer association which assists Butler County MetroParks in maintaining the Pioneer Village. Group members also help by portraying early American life to park visitors.
In order to volunteer at Governor Bebb Preserve, you must also become a member for Butler County MetroParks. There is no charge for becoming a MetroParks volunteer and application for them can be found on their website at http://www.butlercountymetroparks.org/.
